MAUR CINEMA ROOM
This refined home cinema was designed to accommodate a family of five, with additional space thoughtfully allocated for visiting guests. At the heart of the concept is a concealed skylight positioned at the rear of the room, providing natural illumination during the day, valuable through the moody British seasons.
Dark-toned walls and ceiling treatments establish a sophisticated, modern aesthetic that will gracefully mature with the family over time. The main seating arrangement, a modular sofa system, hugs the perimeter of the room to maximize capacity while maintaining intimacy. Opposite, a sleek entertainment wall integrates both the television and custom cabinetry.
The built-in shelving units of light Fir wood and darker toned units, not only offer practical storage but also serve as curated display spaces for personal artifacts, books, and decorative objects of the homeowners' taste and lifestyle. Subtle under-cabinet lighting strips illuminate the shelving and enhance visibility without overpowering the space. Similarly, vertical light strips embedded in the acoustic wall panels offer ambient lighting and reduce sound transmission, balancing beauty and function.
This renovation project is a balance of beauty, comfort, and practicality. It captures the essence of modern family life, where function doesn’t compromise style. From the atmospheric lighting to the carefully selected furnishings, every element was curated to deliver a cinematic experience within the comfort of home. The completed concept is not only a space for watching films but a reflection of the family's lifestyle, values, and desire for timeless, inviting design.
Furniture pieces were selected with a focus on comfort, clean lines, and functionality. The primary seating is a custom modular sofa that wraps the wall as one of the focal pieces of the room. It was chosen not only for its durability but also for its ability to expand and adapt as the family grows or hosts guests. Complementary armchairs with generous proportions add balance to the arrangement, while ottomans provide flexible seating or lounging options.
A low-profile coffee and side tables in matte black with wood and metal finishes ground the space and add a touch of contemporary elegance. Accessories, such as plush throws, and textured cushions, bring an added layer of personality and softness to the overall design.
